PEWTER
GOTHIC BUCKLE
Here is a buckle done in an early gothic style. You can see such in
brass rubbings from the late 1200's to the 1300's. It is a sturdy buckle
sized for an 1 1/4" belt.
Price is $5.00
LATE MIGRATION/EARLY MEDIEVAL
This is modeled after Germanic buckles but could be used for Romanesque
also. It also fits 1 1/4" belts. Price is $5.00 for the buckle and $2.00
per stone.
BRONZE
We use a copper/tin bronze that is within the range of those used by medieval
casters.
FRAME BUCKLE AND BELT TIPS
Here are a buckle and belt tip designed after those presented in Dress
Accessories by Geoff Egan and Frances Pritchard. They are sized to
fit 1 1/4" belts and have a cast bronze frame with soldered plates. The
tongue is also brass. The pierce work follows period patterns from the
Thames river digs. Medieval craftsmen often mixed metals in their pieces,
sometimes using different alloys to their best purpose and sometimes because
they wished to use what they had on hand.
ONE PIECE BELT TIP
This is a cast bronze hollow belt tip much like ones that can be seen in
the works of Rogier van der Weyden. It too fits a 1 1/4" belt.
PRICING
Bronze bukcles and belt tips are $25 each. Buy a buckle and tip together
for $45.
