PEWTER PLATES
Here are pewter plates depicting an alphabet done in a 1480's French manuscript
hand. We have followed the style of that hand in producing the few letters
that were not part of the manuscript (J,V,W) either because they were not
part of the alphabet at that time or they were not needed for the manuscript!
We can link these as collars-of-maintenance, as linked belts for cotehardies
and houplandes, or place them on a leather belt. You can display your motto,
membership in an Order, guild, or household or use the many decorative
spacers to create a thing of beauty. We also sell them loose for you to
use as decoration in the manner that you see fit.
We use lead-free pewter for the plates which measure 1" by 1 1/4" wide
are about a tenth of an inch thick and are given a scratch finish. Please
note that the pewter is a brilliant silvery-white color not the brown/yellow
of these photos (which will be replaced as soon as possible). In addition
to the letters we have several decorative plates to act as spacers (something
not always done in period) or they may be used alone to create a stunning
display. The spacer styles are four-petal rose, Lacey knot, gemplate, quatrefoil,
club, and trefoil. We can mount a 10 mm gem stone in the gemplate and currently
carry carnelian, blue and green agate, sodalite, malachite, mother-of-pearl,
black onyx, tigereye, and amethyst.
